About the event

led by Dr. Yanxi Liu

Discover the foundational techniques and gentle movements of Tai Chi with instructor Dr. Liu, who will guide participants through a calming, beginner‑friendly session — perfect for anyone seeking a peaceful evening outdoors.

We’ll begin with a breathing and movement practice known as the Eight Brocades (Ba Duan Jin), a well‑known form of Qigong. This traditional Chinese practice uses slow, intentional movements, deep breathing, and mindful focus to support energy flow and overall well‑being. Each of the eight movements targets a different area of the body to enhance flexibility, balance, and the flow of Qi (vital energy). Before each TAIJI practice session, we will explore 2–3 of these movements in depth.

Once the body is warmed and breathing becomes steady, we will transition into several fundamental TAIJI QUAN movements. The first four: ward‑off, roll‑back, press, and push, will be practiced individually and then woven together into a slow, smooth, and continuous sequence that can even be enjoyed with music.

We’ll conclude the session with gentle stretching and deep breathing exercises, helping the body unwind and the mind settle, leaving you feeling both refreshed and relaxed.
