Lonberger Path : Fall Adventure Hike

Our Fall Adventure Hikes are recommended for experienced hikers who want to discover new or more challenging trails.

Parking for this hike is located at the Galbraith Gap Parking Area on Bear Meadows Road.

Experience the natural beauty of Rothrock State Forest by exploring the Lonberger Path, a trail that offers a serene experience for outdoor enthusiasts. This path is known for its flowing terrain, making it accessible for hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers alike. Encounter a variety of forest ecosystems, including stands of Eastern hemlock and Eastern white pine, which are characteristic of the area's natural heritage.

Important Reminder: Hunting Seasons in PA

Autumn also marks the return of a variety of Pennsylvania hunting seasons, including new Sunday hunting days. All users of the forest should wear fluorescent orange (and bring some for your dogs, too!) so you’re visible while enjoying the trail. We'll have a few orange vests to borrow during our hike.

How To Prepare: 

• Sturdy footwear is highly recommended for this outing.

• Fluorescent orange for visibility

• Trekking poles are helpful on this trail. Reserve a pair from our Gear Library

• A filled 32 oz. water bottle per person is recommended for this outing

• Sunscreen and insect protection recommended for all outings
