Tree Planting and Blue Bird Box Day

Updated: Oct 9, 2024

New Buffer

ClearWater Conservancy recently planted a new buffer along the Beaver Branch tributary to Spruce Creek. The native trees and shrubs planted here will provide food for nesting bluebirds, and other songbirds.

ClearWater will continue to care for this site in collaboration with the landowners and volunteers to ensure that the native vegetation establishes. Growing a native streamside buffer takes time. We are excited to see birds utilize the newly planted area.

Community Support

When ClearWater Conservancy needed blue bird boxes to initiate our efforts, we reached out to our neighbors at Doing Good with Wood. Kyle, Dave, and John wasted no time in supporting our mission. They provided newly built blue bird boxes in the blink of an eye!

On Sept. 17, Dave and Kyle met ClearWater volunteers in the field to guide and support efforts in posting the boxes. Dave, a Pennsylvania Master Naturalist, shared his wealth of knowledge regarding the birds, their habitat, proper spacing, and installation techniques with our team. Together, our group set forth to install the first three (out of six) bird boxes.

Once the boxes were installed, our volunteers planted six trees. With blue bird shelters established and trees in the ground, it is safe to say this was a successful morning! The weather was beautiful, and our crew adorned bright smiles.

Thank you to the volunteers Jen, Dave, and Elli for conducting the tree planting with ClearWater Staff!
