ClearWater Conservancy: Protects and restores the natural resources in Central Pennyslvania through water resources stewardship, land conservation, and community outreach. Volunteer opportunities include site monitoring of conserved properties and riparian buffer areas, help with special events that take place throughout the year, and assistance in the office with mailings, repair projects, etc.
Centre Moves: A community action group that encourages Centre County residents to be more physically active and chose healthy foods so all can live better lives.
Millbrook Marsh Nature Center: A 12-acre farmstead and 50-acre wetland offering a variety of environmental programs and events, plus day use for birding, hiking and more. Needs volunteers for garden and trail maintenance, invasive species removal, clean-ups, more.
Mt. Nittany Conservancy: This nonprofit exists to protect an iconic local mountain from commercial and residential development. Needs volunteers for trail maintenance during spring and fall work days.
Mt. Nittany Health System: The “system” includes a medical center serving Centre County and the affiliated healthcare providers. Needs volunteers in a host of areas, including but not limited to emergency department, gift shop, guest services, patient floors, physical therapy, ultrasound waiting room, reception desk.
Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited: Works to conserve, protect, and restore the coldwater fishery and watershed of Spring Creek. Needs volunteers to help with office work, PR and development, riparian monitoring or planting, outreach to youth and veterans, finance, more.
Penn State Sustainability Institute: The Sustainable Communities Collaborative connects university faculty, students, and staff with local communities to address sustainability challenges.
Centred Outdoors is led by ClearWater Conservancy and financed in part by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, using Environmental Stewardship Funds, under the administration of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.
